Portrait of Jesus -- Detail from "The Last Supper" by two of Leonardo's students, Giampietrino & Boltraffio.

Giampietrino & Boltraffio created a life-sized oil on canvas copy of Leonardo da Vinci's famous wall mural in order to preserve its message and beauty for future generations.

Due to the experimental methods Leonardo used to make the original mural at the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie -- tempera on gesso, pitch and mastic -- the artwork began to deteriorate almost immediately after completion.

Witness Leonardo's vision in unparalleled detail with our Museum-quality poster focusing on the sublime figure of Jesus Christ as painted by Giampietrino & Boltraffio:

See in high resolution details that would now otherwise be lost to history, such as the delicate glasses containing water and wine, the vivid details of expression and exquisite colour, and the feet of Christ, which were destroyed as a doorway was knocked through the wall housing the original mural.
